FUZZ

Two homeless vagrants have been set ablaze in separate incidents. But when Detective Steve Carella goes undercover to catch these people-burners, he ends up being doused in petrol and set alight. Meanwhile, a ransom demand delivered to the police indicates that if five thousand dollars is not paid to the extortioner, then someone will die. The police and city will not pay, and pretty soon two high profile assassinations unfold, sending the city into widespread panic. As the team from the 87th Precinct launch a multi-pronged investigation into these murders, the value of the ransom is increased by the madman who promises to strike again if payment is not made. The only real clue the police have is a description of a blond man wearing a hearing aid. But no-one seems to know him or his whereabouts. A police procedural punctuated by tense action. Fiction. 207 pages.
