US ELECTION OFFERS NO ALTERNATIVE TO WAR IN WEST ASIA
US Election 2024 • Part Two
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris remain the drivers of horrific outcomes in both Palestine and Lebanon. The widescale sniper killings, the indiscriminate pager attacks, the wilful obstruction of food aid, and the carpet bombing of residential tower blocks, represent US foreign policy in practice. These are public demonstrations of politics by force, which is war.
To elaborate, the current Israeli campaign to viscously exterminate all life within Palestine and southern Lebanon is financially and materially backed by the US administration, which presently is the Democratic Party. This political party is led by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
However, it is important to recognise that support for the Israeli apartheid regime within the US Congress is bipartisan. Should the Republicans secure victory in the upcoming US presidential election, they are expected to match the Democrats enthusiasm and zeal for the brutal Israeli campaign in Palestine and Lebanon.
A Trump administration will likely continue to finance and support the Israeli war machine that is presently engaged in committing a genocide in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine. Republicans very probably will also support Israel’s illegal invasion of sovereign Lebanon. And, a newly elected, returned to power, President Trump is unlikely to withdraw support for the Israeli bombing raids that are routinely demolishing parts of Syrian cities.
Hence, there is little chance that the US election will produce the architecture needed for peace to take hold in West Asia. Rather, critical analysis indicates that peace, harmony, and social cohesion can only be manifested in the West Asian sphere through a forum, format, or process that is entirely separate from and unrelated to US politics and its circus-like election campaigns.
