THE NEW REALITY

The recent spate of news reports carried by the western press has aptly revealed the presence of a smug triumphalism underpinned by a callous indifference to human suffering.

This is the expression of their ideology, which up until quite recently had drawn confidence from a presumed western technical prowess.

For a long while, this same western press did seem intoxicated with the idea of western invulnerability and supremacy. And then, Iran responded boldly and decisively, after exhibiting much patience, and in a manner that emphasised military strategy over the clumsy and thoughtless butchery that its enemies had formerly displayed.

The common educational practice, to compare similarities and to contrast differences, swiftly discloses an inconvenient truth. Which is, the western press are largely incapable of journalism and reportage. Media owners and staff remain drunk with power.

And that, Iran, in its considered and measured response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine and the barbaric levelling of Beirut, is perhaps a true world leader, with the qualities and attributes of a wise and benevolent sage.

In sum, the technical prowess of Iran will no longer be a topic that is routinely subjected to sneering gossip and mocking speculation within the pages of the western press. Iran has shut them up.
